Watkins Glen State Park, NY

Watkins Glen State Park is the most famous of the Finger Lakes State Parks. The gorge path winds over and under waterfalls and through the spray of Cavern Cascade. An almost two mile hike will take you past 19 waterfalls and up over 800 stone steps.

Watkins Glen State Park is located in the village of Watkins Glen, south of Seneca Lake in Schuyler County in New York's Finger Lakes region. The park's lower part is near the village, while the upper part is open woodland. There are a number of small trails leading off of the Gorge Trail, giving way to a number of other outdoor activities close by the main trail. There are tent and trailer camp sites, swimming pools, picnic facilities as well as guided tours of the local topography. Leashed dogs are allowed on the outer rim trails but not on the Gorge Trail.

Nearby state parks include Robert H. Treman State Park, Buttermilk Falls State Park, Sampson State Park, Taughannock Falls State Park, and Lodi Point State Park. Other attractions are Watkins Glen International Racetrack, Corning Museum of Glass, Seneca Lake Wine Trail

City also host annual United States Grand Prix car race.
